August 10, 2013 Pebble Isle Marina, TN

Saturday:  2 of our grandchildren, Sara and Austin, were here for the week of August 3rd through the 9th.  We met their dad in Bloomington, IL, which was about half way in between the boat and Knapp.  It rained off and on for the most of the week but we did manage to do some fun things.  Thursday we took the boat out so the kids could have a ride and we showed them how we anchored.  We just got the new “gypsy” on the anchor so we wanted to try it out and see how it worked and it worked great.  Austin put it down and took it up.  Both kids drove the boat and each one drove under the New Johnsonville RR bridge.  Sara thought it was boring and Austin thought it was great.  We took the boat up to Birdsong anchorage, dropped the anchor, and went in swimming for a while.  It was very hot and humid and the water felt good.  That night we went for pizza and bowling at the little bowling alley in New Johnsonville, had a good time.

Other things we did when the kids were here were go for dinghy rides, kayak rides, and fishing (Austin caught a lot of cat fish using one of my yo-yo’s).  We went to the New Johnsonville museum and got a history lesson on some of the south’s battles during the Civil War, something they kids did not learn in their history books and we went to Loretta Lynn’s home and gift shop just outside of Waverley, TN.  This had to be the first time in their young lives that they went a whole week without TV!  We had a good time and it was sad to see them go.

CO's comments:  XO made boat cards for both grandchildren.  Where is my picture of the XO swimming?  Engines ran good and we are looking forward to leaving this next week.  Since we had Kim Jo "poly glowed" we have to wear sun glasses to look at her she is so shinny.
